BROUGHT TO LIFE BY THE INTREPID WINDRUSH GENERATION, BIRTHPLACE OF LEGENDARY DAVID BOWIE, BELOVED FOR ITS VIBRANT MARKETS AND FREEWHEELING NIGHTLIFE, THIS IS BRIXTON IN ALL ITS GLORY.

Our story…

Started in a railway arch in 2013, Brixton Brewery was the dream of two couples who wanted to put Brixton on the map for great beer. They had met by chance in a local bar and bonded over their shared passion for beer and for the non-stop energy of the South London neighbourhood they all called home: Brixton! They agreed that every great neighbourhood deserves a great brewery; and so Brixton Brewery was born!

We infuse the flavour of Brixton into everything that we do. Our beers are named after Brixton landmarks, inspired by the flavours of its markets, and packaged in colourful cans that reference the exuberant batik fabrics sold there.

Our beer

Our beer is hand-crafted in small batches and is always unpasteurised and unfiltered for maximum flavour. We like to combine the styles, tastes and quality ingredients of traditional British brewing (and our local markets!) with those from much further afield. The resulting beers are bold and delicious, and always perfectly balanced for easy-drinking.

Our ethos

We’re a family-run business rooted in our diverse and vibrant community and there’s nothing we love more than bringing people together through a shared love of beer. We work hard to brew beers that make our local community proud and help thirsty people everywhere get a taste of Brixton.

Our Beers

All our beers are unfiltered, unpasteurised, vegan-friendly and full of flavour.

The miracle of Fish, Wings & Tings

The miracle of Fish, Wings & Tings

We sat down for a beer and a chat with Brian, owner of Caribbean restaurant Fish, Wings & Tings at the entrance to Brixton Village market on Coldharbour Lane.

AMA QUASHIE is one of the fashion industry’s most prominent nail artists. Rarely does a week go by when she’s not visiting somewhere far flung to paint nails for a high end photoshoot or runway show. Yet when deciding where to open their nail salon, Ama and fellow entrepreneur LATOYA LOVATT both agreed that it had to be Brixton. Not long later, they opened AMA Salon, specialising in natural nails, at 340 Coldharbour Lane.

Jimmy’s Plaice, based at 350 Coldharbour Lane, is a family-run fish & chip shop that overlooks the road’s iconic Barrier Block estate. They sell all the deep fried classics you’d expect to find at a traditional London chippy, and, as we found out when we got talking to its owners, have been doing so ever since the 1950s when the shop was first opened by Raz’s father.

Lockdown Reflections

Is anyone else struggling to believe that it’s already July? According to this cool interactive article that was trending on Twitter earlier this week, it’s new experiences that create memories, and help our brains to process the passing of time. Since there’s not been much of that going on lately, no wonder it feels like…
